Jacksonville College Launches New Zero Tuition Initiative
Jacksonville College (JC) is excited to announce the launch of a new financial aid program, the Zero Tuition Initiative. Since 1899, we have proudly served the community of Jacksonville. We continue to do so by taking a step toward making college more affordable to the residents of Cherokee County, and surrounding areas, with this initiative. It is intended to remove economic barriers and provide a pathway to help students complete their associate degree at JC.
Beginning in the spring term of 2025, JC’s Zero Tuition Initiative will provide much-needed financial support for undergraduate students. With the Zero Tuition Initiative, qualifying full-time Texas residents who have completed their FAFSA can now attend with their tuition and student service fee covered depending on their Student Aid Index (SAI) until they earn their first associate degree. This initiative is “last-dollar” aid that covers the remaining tuition cost, after all other grants, scholarships, state, and federal grant funding have been applied. Eligibility requirements include:
- Undergraduate, Texas residents pursuing first associate degree
- Must be Pell-eligible or have a Pell-eligible Student Aid Index
- Enroll full-time in at least 12 credits per semester
Upon meeting these requirements and completing the verification process, recipients must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and the initial qualifications to continue receiving aid.
