Academic Advising & Professional Counseling Services
Academic advising
Academic advising is provided by a faculty advisor assigned to each student enrolled at Jacksonville College. These advisors are available during their scheduled office hours and help students configure class schedules, discuss degree plans, and assess career fields of study. Students can view their advisor’s name in EMPOWER.
Spiritual advising
Spiritual advising is available to all students through the Dean of Students. Many college personnel, including various administrators, faculty, and staff, can also assist students in the area of spiritual concerns.
Professional counseling
Professional counseling services are available and may be required for students having anxiety and depression concerns, suicidal thoughts or attempts, or struggling with drug and/or alcohol dependency. You can email therapy@jacksonville-college.edu for more information.
Information about substance abuse and treatment services are available through the Dean of Students office.
Free counseling
Jacksonville College partners with the Crisis Center of Anderson and Cherokee Counties and provides free counseling services to students who are victimized by child abuse, sexual assault, or family/dating violence. Information about abuse and violence is available through the Counselor, Dean of Students, the Chief of Security, and literature distributed on campus.
