Office of Access and Accommodation

Office of Access and Accommodation

In accordance with Section 504 and ADA guidelines, Jacksonville College strives to provide access and reasonable accommodations to students who request and require them. Support services, such as 504 accommodations, service animals, auxiliary aids, facility accommodations, and more are provided through the Office of Access and Accommodation. Each student is treated as an individual and access and accomodations are based on the recommendations found within their documentation and what is deemed appropriate for the college setting.

Jacksonville College complies with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, pertaining to the provision of reasonable accommodations for students with a disability. The Federal regulations implementing Section 504 and the ADA establish that reasonable and appropriate academic accommodations must be provided to students with disabilities to allow equal access to educational opportunities. While providing accommodation, however, institutions of higher education are not required to lower academic standards or compromise the integrity of the school, department, or program. In conjunction with the appropriate Deans, The Office of Access and Accommodation recommends accommodations for students with disabilities and access needs in compliance with these Federal and State mandates.

If you believe that you have a disability or need requiring access or accommodations, please contact the Office of Access and Accommodation. Students seeking support services on the basis of a diagnosed disability are required to present current (within the last three years) and appropriate documentation.
