Admission Requirements
Admission Checklist
The Admissions Office will communicate with you via email throughout the entire admission process. After submitting an application for admission, follow the checklist below and submit all required documents. You cannot enroll in classes until all documents have been received and approved by the Admissions Office.
Failure to provide the required documents can delay your admission, so be sure to complete the application checklist in a timely manner.
Official transcripts must come directly to Jacksonville College from the originating institution, via U.S. mail, email, or electronic transcript service such as Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse; or you may bring them to the Admissions Office in a sealed envelope from your school. An official transcript will have your graduation date and the signature of a school official. Unofficial documents (such as in-progress transcripts and proof of meningitis vaccination) may be faxed, mailed, emailed or uploaded to your file via your Empower account. When all required documents have been received, you will meet with an academic advisor to set up a course schedule and be registered for classes.

Transfer Credit Information
* Academic transcripts will be evaluated for possible transfer credit to Jacksonville College according to the following guidelines:
- The course must have been taken for college credit and must represent content and level of instruction resulting in student competencies at least equivalent to those of students enrolled in Jacksonville College degree programs.
- The course must relate to one of the College’s academic credit curriculum areas; it must be relevant to the Associate Degree or the Junior College Diploma at Jacksonville College.
- Only college credit course grades of “D” or higher will be accepted for credit, except for English and Mathematics where grades of “C” or higher will only be accepted.
- The College sets no limit on the amount of hours that can be transferred in other than a maximum 15 semester hours of correspondence-type courses. However, all Jacksonville College graduation requirements are applicable to transfer-in credits.
After applying these criteria, all courses and grades evaluated, whether accepted for credit or not, will be shown on the Jacksonville College academic transcript. These courses will be included in calculation of the cumulative grade-point average. If a course has been repeated, it is considered only one time, using the higher grade, for grade-point average calculation and for total hours completed.
Once a transcript has been evaluated by the Office of the Registrar, the transfer-in credit(s) can be viewed on the student’s unofficial transcript on EMPOWER. If a student feels that a transcript was not properly evaluated based on the credit(s) shown or not shown on his/her Jacksonville College transcript, he/she may contact the Office of the Registrar for reevaluation.
Transfer students with a low grade-point average may be subject to Scholastic Probation policies.
International students who are transferring from another U.S. institution to Jacksonville College must have completed at least one semester of work at the transfer institution and have permission of the transfer institution to relocate to Jacksonville College. Non-immigrant alien students who have an I-20 from Jacksonville College must enroll as full-time students (15 semester hours or more) and must maintain this status throughout a Fall or Spring semester. Part-time students at Jacksonville College for a Fall/Spring semester must be enrolled full-time at their parent institution and have the permission of the parent institution to attend part-time at Jacksonville College.
