Step 1: Apply
If you simply want to take a few classes and do not plan to earn a degree or use financial aid, you can apply to bee a non-degree seeking student (limited to 4 classes).

Step 3: Official ACT or SAT scores

Step 4: Apply For Financial Aid
FASFA: Complete your FAFSA (Jacksonville College code: 003579).
SCHOLARSHIPS: Print and complete your designated scholarship application form.
If you’re not sure if you qualify for a scholarship, no problem. Simply print any form you believe you may qualify for. The Director of Financial Aid will assist you in receiving the award best fit for you.
Residency Info: Complete the Oath and Residency Information form (for Texas residents ONLY).
Step 5: Evidence Of Meningitis Vaccination
The State of Texas has passed a new law (HR 4189) that requires all first-time freshmen and transfer students under the age of 22 to have a vaccination against bacterial meningitis.
One of the following is required:
- Evidence that the student has received the vaccination (student must have received vaccination at least 10 days prior to living on campus) must be submitted in one of the following formats:
- A document bearing the signature or stamp of the physician or his/her designee, or public health personnel
- An official immunization record generated from a state or local health authority (must include the month, day, and year the vaccination was administered)
- An official record received from school officials, including a record from another state (must include the month, day, and year the vaccination was administered)
- Evidence that the student is declining the vaccination must be submitted in one of the following two formats:
- An affidavit or a certificate signed by a physician who is duly registered and licensed to practice medicine in the United States, in which it is stated that, in the physician’s opinion, the vaccination required would be injurious to the health and well-being of the student
- An affidavit signed by the student stating that the student declines the vaccination for bacterial meningitis for reasons of conscience, including a religious belief. A conscientious exemption form (“Affidavit Request for Exemption from Immunizations for Reasons of Conscience“) from the Texas Department of State Health Services must be used.
Step 6: Final Documents
Turn in all required documents, which must be done before you may register for classes.

Priority deadline for Fall admission is June 1. Priority deadline for Spring admission is December 1. You may apply after these dates, but you must work quickly to have all requirements/documents turned in before the start of each term.

Step 7: Student Housing (if living on campus)
If you plan to live on campus, you must complete the following requirements to be guaranteed a bed on campus. If you do not complete these requirements, you will be placed on a waiting list.
- Complete admission checklist and receive an official acceptance letter from Jacksonville College.
- Pay a $100.00 room deposit to the Business Office.
- Print the Student Housing Packing List.
- View the Jacksonville College Student Handbook for guidelines on code of conduct, curfew, and room inspections.

You Are A First-Time Applicant.
A first-time applicant has never attended college after high school graduation. High school graduates, current high school students, and GED holders may apply as a first-time applicant.
“I would like to transfer to Jacksonville College from another college.”
You Are A Transfer Applicant.
If you have attended any other college(s) since high school and now want to become a degree-seeking student at Jacksonville College, complete this application.
BUT WAIT! If you only want to take prerequisite courses for another program or summer classes to count toward a degree at your regular college or university, use the TRANSIENT form below.
“I attend another college and only want to take a few courses at JC.”
You Are A Visiting Applicant.
Degree-seeking students in good standing at another accredited institution may take selected classes as visitor students, also called transient students, at Jacksonville College if their college(s) permit. These students do not become degree-seeking at Jacksonville College.
Students who want to use financial aid must make arrangements with their home institution.
There are two steps to become a Transient student at Jacksonville College:
Step 1: Complete the online Transient Application. There is a Transient Application fee of $25.00.
Step 2: Submit the Transient Registration Form. You can find instructions and the link to this form at the end of the Transient Application.
The student will be registered for the course(s) on the Transient Registration Agreement provided both the application and form are complete. No further action is necessary to register.
Winter, May, and Summer are shorter terms and have a reduced tuition. Regular fee applies for Fall and Spring semesters.
A new Transient Registration Agreement must be submitted for any subsequent term enrollments.
“I was a Jacksonville College student and took one or more semesters off. I’m ready to reapply.”
You Are A Readmission Applicant.
An applicant qualifies for readmission if he/she has been a student at Jacksonville College at some point after high school but has not gone to school anywhere else. A student must apply for readmission after he/she has not been enrolled at Jacksonville College for at least one long semester.
“I just want to take a few classes. I am not pursuing a degree.”
You Are A Non-Degree Seeking Applicant.
A non-degree applicant does not plan to earn a degree of any kind at any school and does not plan to use financial aid (limited to 4 classes).
“I’m a high school student and want to take classes for dual credit.”
You Are A Dual Credit Or Concurrent Applicant.
A dual credit or concurrent applicant is still in high school and wants to take dual credit classes as part of his or her high school program. See Dual Credit/Concurrent Applicant Requirements for more details.
“I’m a citizen of another country and would like to attend Jacksonville College.”
You Are An International Applicant.
An International applicant is a citizen of another country and his or her home is outside the United States. An International applicant will attend on an F-1 student visa. See the International page for more information.
